6H Rituals
Performance for Camera
2019
I create traditional portrait paintings for a living. In my practice, I primarily use Instagram and, most frequently, Facebook to promote my portrait business, which I have named “Bohovee Touch Divine Portraits.” As part of my marketing strategy, I dress up as my alter ego, Bohovee, and film a ritual performance alongside a commissioned portrait. Afterward, I upload the photos and recorded videos to social media.
“6H Rituals” is a series of three video performances. The first one was performed precisely during the Pink Full Moon in April. Each ritual performance takes place in my 6H studio room, a space I consider sacred and have dubbed “Boys Magic Studio.” This is where I conduct photo shoots with male models, using their images as references for my paintings under “The Muses of Bohovee Project.”
As “The Supreme Enchantress,” Bohovee sings my self-composed gibberish chant, “Valevoo Shalemga,” to channel inner psychic power into the painting. Bohovee’s chanting, as part of her charm, complements the sensual grace of her feminine bodily expressions. Together, I believe these constitute an essential form of magic that connects with cosmic power, allowing me to attain good luck, abundance, and prosperity.
Regarding the mise-en-scène of the performance, I integrate the natural atmosphere of my studio with various elements: Bohovee’s outfit style, the colors of fabrics used as props, teasing wall photographs, the finished painting, DIY lighting, and the overall presence of my character’s sensual performance within the camera frame.
