BAGIK PAMHOD
2014/ performative video

BAGIK PAMHOD showcases my students’ engagement in my flamboyant and odd ritual, which pushes them beyond their comfort zones. Here, they undergo a physical transformation in which I place two baby nipples on their foreheads as horns while chanting “Bagik Pamhod” (meaning “My Love” in the Ifugao dialect). This creates a disruptive atmosphere in the class, revealing their natural reactions of shame and embarrassment. Significantly, it prompts me to reflect on my dual role as both a teacher and an artist, challenging them through this unique experience as they confront another side of reality through my radical expressions of desire and transcendence.
