ABMABAMBA WIGGY WIG
2014/ performative video, 15 min 55 sec

ABMABAMBA WIGGY WIG unveils a determined action in which I place a pile of towels on my head while constantly chanting “Abmabamba Wiggy Wig.” Its inspiration comes from my experience in an Indian Sikh temple, where I was drawn to the meditative ritual of covering the sacred altar with several layers of ornate fabric. Through my feminine alter ego, the piled-up towels become a symbol of crowning glory despite the burden she carries. Hence, the piece also contemplates my desire to represent self-transformation through odd humor as I attempt to assume a position of power.
